The transformation began with removing the existing asphalt driveway. Once the old pavement was gone, Kaplan Paving reconstructed the stone base with careful attention to grading and proper drainage.

A brick paver driveway is only as good as the foundation beneath it, so preparing the base properly was essential to creating a surface that can maintain its appearance and performance for years to come.

The driveway was then constructed using Techo-Bloc Villagio pavers in Chestnut. Their cobblestone-inspired shape and rich coloring provide the classic European character the homeowner envisioned while offering the advantages of a modern manufactured paving system.

Three-Row Border Adds Definition

To frame the driveway and give the installation a more finished appearance, Kaplan Paving incorporated a three-row paver border around the drive.

The border creates a strong visual outline that defines the sweeping driveway and highlights the craftsmanship throughout the installation. Precise cuts and careful placement were especially important along the curves to maintain the design’s flowing appearance.

A Formal Entrance with Unilock Mattoni Pavers

The entrance received another custom design element with a half-oval inlay constructed from Unilock Mattoni pavers. This distinctive feature creates a more formal transition as the driveway approaches the home and provides an elegant contrast against the Techo-Bloc Villagio field pavers.

The same Mattoni accents were carried into the home’s steps and stoops, helping connect the driveway and entrance into one cohesive hardscape design.

Natural Limestone Finishing Touches

To complete the entrance, Kaplan Paving installed natural limestone stair treads, carefully mortared into place for a substantial, timeless finish.

The combination of Chestnut Villagio cobblestone-style pavers, Mattoni accents, and natural limestone complements the home’s architecture beautifully. The materials feel as though they were designed specifically for the property, not added later.
