Once the new configuration was established, the asphalt portion was paved using a two-lift asphalt installation for additional strength and durability.

Correcting a Serious Downspout Drainage Problem

Drainage was much more than an aesthetic consideration on this property. The existing downspouts were contributing to structural damage and needed to be addressed as part of the renovation.

Kaplan Paving buried the downspouts using solid PVC drainage pipe, carrying the water underground and away from the structures. The system transitions through a perforated elbow to a pop-up emitter, allowing collected stormwater to discharge into an appropriate area of the property.

By addressing the water problem while reconstructing the driveway and hardscape, Kaplan could incorporate the drainage solution cleanly into the overall project.

Premium Thermal Bluestone Walkway

For the new walkway and front entrance, the homeowners selected Thermal Bluestone in Blue Select.

Blue Select is prized for its consistent blue-gray appearance and creates an exceptionally clean, upscale look. They incorporated matching natural bluestone stair treads at the entrance, tying the walkway, steps, and stoop together.

The contrast between the Thermal Bluestone and Copthorne accents adds another layer of detail while complementing the home’s architecture.

Completely Redesigning the Front Stoop

The original front stoop had an awkward additional step that made navigating the entrance unnecessarily difficult.

Rather than working around the existing configuration, Kaplan Paving removed the old stoop and redesigned the entrance with a new single-level concrete stoop. Once the new structure was poured and properly prepared, they finished it with premium bluestone veneer and coordinating stair treads.

The redesigned entrance is cleaner, easier to navigate, and much more visually appealing.
