Small Brick Paver Patio in
Des Plaines, IL

Proof That Beautiful Outdoor Spaces Come in All Sizes

It doesn’t have to be fancy to be beautiful! Kaplan Paving recently completed this charming brick patio project in Des Plaines, IL, proving that even a small outdoor improvement can make a big difference.

At just 180 square feet, this new patio gives the homeowners a comfortable outdoor sitting area without a major backyard renovation. It’s a perfect example of how thoughtful design and professional installation can transform a modest space into something special.

A Small Patio with a Big Impact

Not every homeowner needs an elaborate outdoor kitchen, expansive entertainment area, or oversized brick paver patio.

Sometimes, all that’s needed is a well-designed space to sit outside, enjoy the fresh air, and relax.

This Des Plaines project focused on creating a practical, attractive sitting area that complements the existing property. The compact 180-square-foot footprint makes excellent use of the available space while providing a dedicated area for outdoor furniture and everyday enjoyment.

The finished patio shows that great craftsmanship matters as much on smaller projects as on large installations.

Protecting the Existing Asphalt Driveway

One important consideration during this project was protecting the home’s existing asphalt driveway.

Another contractor installed the driveway just a couple of years earlier, and it was still relatively new. Kaplan Paving took extra precautions throughout the patio construction process to avoid damaging the asphalt.

The team took care to access the work area, handle materials, and complete the installation without disturbing the surrounding improvements.

Protecting a homeowner’s existing investment is an important part of delivering a successful project, regardless of its size.
